Appointment - General
Director Transportation
Dallas Texas -- Randall
James Monroe, Inc., a Dallas based global
executive search consultancy announces the successful
completion of the following executive search
assignment for:
General Director Transportation —
BNSF Railway Company
Chad Sundem has been
appointed to the role of General Director Transportation
for the BNSF Railway Company. Most recently,
Sundem served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the
United States Army. Sundem had combat deployments
on five different occasions. Early in his career
he had the opportunity to lead 120+ of America's
elite Army Rangers in the successful rescue
of Private Jessica Lynch - the first American
POW rescue since World War II. For his actions
during that combat deployment Sundem earned
the Bronze Star for Valor. In three of his five
deployments, Sundem had the critical role of
commander and leader of the unit. In one of
these roles Sundem was the Brigade Operations
Officer where he led an organization of 4500
people at its peak while deploying an Army brigade
and all its organic equipment overseas. This—and
other relevant leadership roles allowed Sundem
to gain a unique understanding of the dynamic
support architecture when dealing with planes,
trains, ships, and aircraft. The synchronization
of these assets all on a constrained and varied
timeline allowed him to develop a balanced approach
to delivering efficiencies in each logistical
undertaking.
As General Director of Transportation,
the focus will be on developing Sundem to take
charge of one of twelve operating Divisions
in the Company in 12-18 months and lead a 1500-2000
person team. To facilitate his acclimation into
the business —
Sundem will be involved in the Company's Optimization
& Efficiency initiatives and spend time
at Alliance Texas —
one of the world's premier multi-modal inland
ports in order to gain experience on how the
Company handles operational and logistics related
matters. In addition, he will travel to the
Company's corporate headquarters and other Divisions
to gain a first-hand understanding on how things
run from an operational perspective.
